August Indoor Fun

With the hot weather we have been having a lot of fun indoors.

The boys love painting so we made a few bird houses and had fun decorating them.

Cameron also loved playing with goo.

Hunter loves science projects so we dissolved the egg shell.  Hunter loved playing with his gooey eggs and checking on them every day.  We did break them both on the floor after playing with them.

 

Then we used the vinegar to make colored explosions.

Hunter happy to be doing homework.  He is such a little trooper and does a great job getting his work done.

We also collected bottle caps for the last few weeks to make this solar system.  Hunter loved putting it together and we had to look up pictures of each planet so we would be able to paint them the right color and display all of the correct features of the planet.  Hunter wanted each planet to look just right.  It was so cute.

 

 Cameron and I have been doing mommy preschool.  He loves learning about new letters and doing projects.

 We went on a nature walk to collect items for his nature collage.  I love his bug antennae he is wearing.

Hunter absolutely loves coloring.  He likes picking out pictures for me to trace and then he colors and adds all of the detail.  Almost every day he asks for a new picture and he loves creating scenes for each of the characters.  I love my little artist boys.

August Outdoor Fun

It has been a busy month with Hunter starting school.  The boys love seeing each other when Hunter is done with school but between school and nap time I love having some one on one time with each of the boys.  We have had a lot of fun exploring and playing outside.

  We had a few wet days and had some fun playing in the rain.

 I love their expressions and excitement.  These little guys are so cute.

  We played at the splash pad with our cousins and enjoyed the park right next to it.

 Cameron has really loved riding his bike lately.  We have ridden all over the neighborhood. 

 He loves riding all around.

Cameron loves playing in the water.  He will measure it, pour it, and watch the ice melt.  I love coming up with fun ideas to entertain the boys.

Papago Park

The weather was cooler tonight so we decided to take advantage of the good weather and go to Papago Park.  We met up with grandma and grandpa and Grandpa Olson

  The boys loved playing in the water, collecting sticks, and throwing rocks.

 They tried to catch tadpoles and minnows with grandpa.

 We hiked up to Hunt's tomb to look around.

 We love spending time with Grandpa Olson.  The boys are so glad he is back from Utah and love seeing him.  We are so lucky to have him close by.

Saturday Morning Bike Ride

Hunter and I typically are the first ones up on the weekends.  So usually on Saturday mornings we go for a walk or a bike ride together while we let daddy and Cameron sleep.  We have a fire station about a mile from our house and Hunter loves riding his bike to the fire station.  Last year the fireman invited him in and let him play on the fire engine and spray the hose.  We have been going back ever since and the station has never been open until today.

 The firemen were so great.  They saw Hunter looking in at the truck and invited him right over.  They answered all of his questions about their equipment and gave him a new fire hat.

 Hunter loved meeting the firemen and touring the fire truck.  Such a fun Saturday morning.

Sedona

The Arizona summer has been very hot, so to make it through the long hot days I like to plan weekends away to cooler areas.  This weekend we thought a trip to Sedona with the boys would be fun.  We loved going up to Sedona for our anniversary and thought it would be fun to take the boys up to our favorite hikes.

The first hike we did was Cathedral Rock.

 The boys did so great hiking and loved the red rocks.

 There was a bit of rock climbing involved and the boys are amazing free climbers.  Cameron and Hunter passed quite a few adults free climbing on this path.  After getting done with this part Hunter said "easy peasy".  We have decided we will definitely have to get rock climbing equipment and take these boys rock climbing in a few years.

 Next we met up with Grandma and Grandpa coming down from Utah and went and hiked along the creek.  Cameron taking a rest.

The boys wanted to go higher and higher.  We had such a fun day away.
